Costa Rica News – Taxation is evaluating whether to ask the United States for data on Airbnb hosts in Costa Rica.
Airbnb provides lodging information for various types of accommodations in Costa Rica such as rooms in private houses, apartments and luxury houses.
They are in many parts of the country including beach and mountain areas.
The Directorate General of Direct Taxation of the Ministry of Finance is exploring the option of requesting information on those renting out spaces in Costa Rica from the US Government if Airbnb refuses to give the information.
Those who rent out rooms or homes to locals or tourists are supposed to pay taxes on the money they earn. Airbnb urges hosts to comply with local laws and inquire as to what taxes should be paid.
