Entertainment News – At least one thing went well for Sony Pictures this Christmas.
That makes for a respectable opening weekend on par with what the movie could have made in a wide theatrical release.
The movie was set to premiere nationwide on Christmas Day, but the release was canceled after terrorist threats were made against theaters that showed the film.
This came after a massive hack of Sony Pictures by a group calling itself “Guardians of Peace,” or GOP.
“The Interview” stars James Franco and Seth Rogen as journalists hired by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
While the film was released on Google Play, YouTube and Xbox Video, more than a million people still decided to download it illegally.
