Because the Costa Rican Karate Federation (Fecoka) has been administratively suspended by the National Registry, the National Games for the sport in the country won’t be held this year.
The National Sports Games should have been held last weekend. The athletes left without the chance to compete will have to wait until the games are rescheduled next year.
The suspension has to do with the absence of legal books for at least ten years. The accounting documents were confiscated by the National Registry. The Federation was suspended in November. It can not perform its functions normally. It can’t be the provider of the Costa Rican Sports Institute (Icoder) for this sporting activity, even though it is the only one that provides the services for the competitions in the country. Icoder hopes to find another supplier for next year.
On December 2, there was an announcement that removed the name of Fecoka but included José Luis Vargas as a delegate. He was secretary of the presidency, however, when there were no books, so he couldn’t be involved either. Ultimately, no one else was eligible by the planned date of the competition.
