Costa Rica News – An English journalist, Michael Dixon, disappeared in Costa Rica almost a decade ago. His father died without ever knowing what happened to him and his brother assures the same cannot happen to his mother.
The family continues the search even though the British and Costa Rican authorities have disappointed them, giving up. They went to the Red Cross in Geneva to ask for help which resulted in a two week search being set up but after just two days the rescuers said the track had gone cold.
Since his disappearance, the relatives have come to the country three times to carry out their own investigations. They got the most details from kind locals. The problem is that the locals are willing to talk to the family but not the authorities because of fear for their own safety. Apparently, Dixon was seen with a few problematic people known for trafficking drugs.
The family believes he may have been drugged. He did not take drugs or even drink much. His idea of vacation was music and books.
The last hope the family has is that those responsible have a guilty conscience and come forth to tell them what happened. At this point, they don’t want to get justice just closure. Most crimes in Costa Rica cannot be brought to trial after 10 years anyway. The family just wants to close wounds.
