This weekend has some decent waves with an occasional overhead wave on the Pacific side of Coast Rica and the Caribbean side of Costa Rica from June 28thto June 29th. FRIDAY: Easing SW groundswell (220-200 deg). Look for surf mainly in the waist-head high zone at the better exposed breaks (strongest early). Select magnets will see occasional slightly overhead waves/peaks during the more favorable tides.
WEATHER/WIND: Look for light+ offshore NE-ENE wind for the mornings (strongest near the Nica border), with a light to moderate onshore SW-WSW seabreeze developing over the mid to late mornings and into each afternoon. NOTE – Passing or nearby showers and thunderstorms can temporarily affect/change local wind conditions.
Friday 06/28 – 0.9-1.5m – waist to head high occ. 1.8m – BIGGEST EARLY; Easing SW swell
Saturday 06/29– 0.9-1.2m+ waist to shoulder high – Old SW swell continues to ease while a reinforcing SSW swell moves in and tops out; Watching the tropics for a possible development
Caribbean Costa Rica Forecast
A new SW groundswell has been building into the region on Wednesday morning, peaking this afternoon with chest-overhead surf at the better exposed breaks. Select magnets have produced occasional sets running 2-3 feet overhead.
Friday 06/28 – 0.9-1.2m – Knee to shoulder – Small short period wind waves from the east-northeast holding during the day. Light and variable west-northwest winds, Increasing later and switching to the north.
Saturday 06/29– 0.9-1.2m – Knee to shoulder – Small short period wind waves from the east-northeast holding during the day. Light west-northwest winds and switching to the northeast.
