Costa Rica Entertainment – Natalia Carvajal is to represent Costa Rica in Thailand for Miss Universe, the highest event in universal beauty. She was asked about her opinion on transsexual candidate Ángela Ponce and about the organization’s decision to let her compete.
Carvajal says that she is glad that Ángela can fulfil her dream. Many disagree with Ponce representing Spain and becoming the first transsexual participant. Carvajal, however, believes that even those who disagree should do so in a respectful way. They shouldn’t attack and destroy a person or their dreams. Telling a person not to pursue their dream is devastating. Carvajal compares it to telling a child they will never be an astronaut although becoming an astronaut is what makes them happy.
Natalia also pointed out that all the energy people use to write ugly things to hurt Ángela could be used to create, build, or do something positive instead. She also explained that she likes to concentrate on her own dream and not the advantages or disadvantages of others.
The competition will play out on December 16th.
