Costa Rica Travel – While many sites offer lodging options or tell you about the hotspots in Costa Rica, only one seems to focus on the hidden beaches. GOPlaya.cr is a website that functions as a beach search engine.
You can choose characteristics that you are looking for such as dolphin or turtle sightings, the color of the sand or water, the type of waves, etc. It will show you beaches meeting your criteria as well as the state of the roads to get there. It also allows you to create a route that can be used in Waze or Google Maps.
Keep in mind that Costa Rica offers so many different kinds of beaches. Why not visit one you’ve never been to or better yet one you’ve not heard of until now? The landscapes vary greatly from one beach to another.
Turquoise water, islands in the sea, pink sand, beaches shaded by beautiful trees, those lined with interesting rock formations and others where whales are often seen are just a few of the many options. Some are best for surfing and others offer great snorkeling. Some are near active nightlife and others tucked away. All of them have the power to amaze.
While the Costa Rican Tourism Institute mentions only 90 beaches, GOPlaya.cr lists over 200.
