Costa Rica News – When it come to dental tourism it can be a very scary and stressful process finding a dentist that you can trust and feel comfortable with abroad. The top 5 countries for dental tourism are Argentina, Brazil, Malaysia, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Of the two closest to the USA, Costa Rica is by far the best option.
Even though most dentists in Costa Rica speak English, have been trained at the same level as American dentists (many even trained in the States!), and offer competitive prices, you should still look for a dentist that meets your specific needs, has good references, and who you are comfortable with.
There are a number of ways to research and find a good dentist in Costa Rica. Ask around for friends of friends who have already done it and use their personal recommendations. If you can’t find someone, look online for multiple positive reviews about the same dentist.
Next make calls to a few at the top of your list to make sure you get great service and questions answered about payments, post-op care, available services, etc. Put the time in to find a few options that you are totally satisfied with. Remember to not believe everything you read. Look for reviews on multiple sites from multiple people that say the same thing. Go with a few options in case you change your mind about your first choice.
Here is a list of some books and online sources that may help in your search:
-“Patients Beyond Borders,” by Josefr Woodman
-“The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Medical Tourism,” by Patrick Marsek
There are only 1 or 2 clinics that The Costa Rican Times recommends due to personal experiences there. One is Costa Rica Dental Team which is the only American run clinic in Costa Rica with the highest standards in service and modern facilities. Saving $2500 or more on dental procedures like dental implants with a short flight to paradise is becoming more and more popular.
