Costa Rica News – Keep your eyes peeled for a nighttime spectacle, as the planets Jupiter and Venus are finding their places in line with each other and the Moon. The month starts and ends with great optics in the sky. First was the passage of a green comet and now this.
The phenomenon of the two planets and Moon lining up happens about once a year but won’t be seen again until 2025 because in 2024 it will happen too close to the Sun so we won’t be able to observe it.
From February 28th to March 2, we will be able to appreciate the view with the naked eye. Some saw a preview on very clear nights, February 21 and 22. The visual spectacle is awe inspiring. Bright planets surrounded by stars.
The optical effect is produced because of the paths each planet follows around the Sun. The orbits’ paths and inclinations produce different perspectives from Earth. They look so close, but Jupiter and Venus are over 900 million kilometers apart!
