Costa Rica News – The Port Administration and Economic Development Board of the Atlantic Coast (Japdeva) hopes to extend the terminal at the Hernán Garrón pier or Alemán pier.
The project was presented to businessmen.
The plan is set to be done in three stages. It will provide infrastructure for attention to visitors, establish a marina and open a third berth for ships and build restaurants, free trade shops and hotels.
Japdeva has an objective of taking advantage of the growing cruise industry in the Caribbean. The sector was affected from 2011-2013 and Japdeva hopes to recover it in the years to come.
From 2008-2018, the number of cruise passengers in the world rose 64%. Having the space to bring a cruise ship in and an attractive welcoming place for the tourists will put Costa Rica on the map. Ships bringing 5,000 passengers to Limon would do a great thing for our country’s economy.
