While a lifeguard in Tamarindo was rescuing a swimmer that was drowning a man on the beach decided to steal his things.
The man was arrested as others saw him trying to steal the lifeguard’s items, but seriously WTF?
This is not an uncommon occurrence in the land of “Pura Vida”. Petty theft whether on the beach or other places in Costa Rica is part of day to day life.
One of the biggest reasons for this is the fact it is not worth it to report these crimes as the items are seldom recovered and who wants to spend a day at the police station during their vacation in Costa Rica?
As stated on Facebook …. Many people, particularly European would consider the country or destination unsafe if they knew their possessions and property were at such risk of being stolen.
