Costa Rica Travel – If you’re looking for an adventure full of beautiful natural wonders then look no further than Costa Rica.
The country is a haven for nature lovers — in fact, the country takes its environmental conservation so seriously that it has rapidly slowed its rainforest deforestation, is working toward running the entire country on renewable energy and will become the first country on Earth to ban single-use plastics by 2021.
With all that effort of course the country is green, lush and gorgeous, but there is one hidden bright-blue gem worth getting off the beaten path for: the Rio Celeste waterfall.
Located inside the Tenorio Volcano National Park in the northern Costa Rican provinces of Alajuela and Guanacaste, the Rio Celeste, meaning “heavenly river,” offers visitors a breathtaking experience thanks to its baby blue waters contrasting with the dark green rainforest around it.
“What a beautiful hike through the forest in the Terino Volcano National Park. The waterfall, hot springs and blue lagoon were sights you will never see anywhere else but here,” one TripAdvisor user noted.
To get to the river and waterfall, Visit Costa Rica explains that visitors will enter a path that runs for approximately two miles before hitting the falls. From there, those hoping to get up close and personal with the falls will have to travel down a steep trail that leads to its base. Sadly, visitors are not allowed to swim in the crystal blue waters, but you can still take plenty of photos or sit as long as you’d like to take it all in.
After checking out the fall make sure to continue on with the hike as the rest of the area’s rainforest provides its own stunning views and natural wonders.
You may even spot a toucan or two along the way.
