The running craze has been resurrected big time in Costa Rica with athletes and amateurs alike looking for more ways and opportunities to get in their running shoes. Costa Rica has put together an event in to provide athletes an outlet for their craving for running along the gorgeous sandy beaches of Playa Hermosa.
Enter Costa Rica Race, a sports event designer and organizer whose next event is the Playa Hermosa Beach Trail Run on May 12, 2012. Set in the surfer paradise of Playa Hermosa (Puntarenas), the event is designed for runners of all kinds and levels.
Registration fees are pegged at 10,000 colones for the individual 12km and 7,500 colones for the individual 6km. On top of being a challenging activity for enthusiasts, part of the fees will proceed to the maintenance and upkeep of the Playa Hermosa Wildlife Refuge, a sanctuary for Olive Ridley sea turtles that return toHermosa Beach every year to nest.
Participants will receive a race kit from the product sponsors, jerseys, access to aid stations and INS insurance, medical, ambulance, and support vehicles throughout the journey, and of course, trophies for the top finishers.
