If you do not like insects, than Costa Rica is not the place you want to visit. The country has the perfect conditions for insects.

Beetles are one of the largest and diverse insect groups. Their digestive system consists of mostly plants. They inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide.

These insects under go metamorphosis. The typical stages are egg, larva, pupa and then the adult beetle stage. Depending on the species of beetle, the pupa may be enclosed in a cocoon.

Mating occurs through the release of chemicals to attract the partner’s attention. Before mating, the beetles may engage in behavior such as vibrate and dialogue to identify the type of beetle.
