Costa Rica Government to Help Companies Plan for Coexistence with Gays

Well it might be me but whenever I hear someone starting off an article with the Costa Rica to help anyone or any company do anything, I am just waiting for the punch line of the joke they are about to continue after that initial sentence.  This time they are convening to talk about integrating the homosexual community into businesses.  Quick wake up call CR Government, the gay community has already been integrated and you making it a topic of discussion makes it worse in a Catholic conservative social environment. 

costa rica gaysThe Government is prepared to convene this week the project that creates living companies, which advocates the homosexual community.

This was the commitment you made this afternoon by Minister of the Presidency, Carlos Ricardo Benavidades, after meeting with representatives of gay groups.

Benavides said he will support the initiative, provided it does not entail amending the Family Code, which establishes and regulates the figure of marriage. The intention, he added, is to be adopted during this administration.

“The draft is the coexistence companies that best reflects the rights that the Government believes should be granted to same-sex couples and that we will convene in extraordinary,” said the minister.

With the creation of companies with economic rights are recognized coexistence between same-sex couples.

Marco Castillo, president of the Diversity Movement was pleased by the agreement.

“It’s another step in our struggle for a project that has been under discussion for six years,” he said.

The meeting also attended Margarita Salas, Kiss Various organization.

For his part, Francisco Madrigal, Center for Research and Promotion of Human Rights in Central America (CIPAC) withdrew before the end of the meeting, said he would wait for concrete action by the Government.
